The Sky’s the Limit: How Chloe Built a Career in Norwich’s Thriving Financial Sector
Financial and professional services is one of Norwich’s biggest industries, but not every role in the sector revolves around finance. From people development and marketing to HR, technology and operations, businesses rely on a wide range of skills to succeed.
For Chloe, that path began when she joined Alan Boswell Group. Today, as Personal Lines Manager (Training & Development), she oversees apprenticeship programmes, supports new talent entering the industry and helps people build rewarding careers of their own.
Her journey highlights something many people don’t realise about Norwich’s financial and professional services sector: there are opportunities to grow, progress and make an impact, whatever your skills or career ambitions.

One theme appears throughout Chloe’s story: opportunity.
While many professionals assume they need to move to London for career progression, Chloe believes Norwich offers something different and better.
“We are such a hub for the financial services industry,” she says. “You’ve got some really great examples of businesses in Norwich. You’ve got brokers, insurers, accountants and advisers. It’s absolutely the place to be.”
For Chloe, one of Norwich’s biggest advantages is accessibility. In larger cities, gaining exposure to senior leaders and major projects can take years. In Norwich, those opportunities often arrive much earlier.
“The exposure that you get to senior management and clientele, you wouldn’t necessarily get elsewhere.”
That proximity creates opportunities for ambitious professionals to learn, contribute and advance at a faster pace.

For those unfamiliar with the industry, Chloe is keen to challenge misconceptions.
Financial services isn’t simply accounting, insurance or advising clients. Behind every successful business are opportunities in marketing, digital services, HR, project management, data, customer experience and leadership
“There is such a broad variety. Whatever your skill set is, there is something for everybody.”
“The possibilities are endless,” Chloe says. “My role didn’t exist, and they created it. That’s possible for anybody.“
For Chloe, Norwich’s appeal extends beyond work.
“I absolutely love it here. I wouldn’t choose to be anywhere else,” she says.
Part of that comes down to quality of life. A city centre packed with independent businesses. Riverside walks. A growing food and coffee scene. Access to coast and countryside. Everything within easy reach.
“The beauty of it is you’re not trekking 50 minutes across a city. You’ve got everything around you within walking distance,” Chloe explains.
It’s this combination of professional opportunity and everyday quality of life that makes Norwich such an attractive place to build a future.
