Norwich: The Springboard for an Ambitious Career in Business and Finance
After growing up in Norwich, Will left to study Economics at the University of York before joining a large accountancy firm in London, where he completed his professional qualifications. While London provided valuable experience working with large organisations, Will quickly realised that Norwich offered him something more.
“Working in London gave me the opportunity to support a wide range of large organisations; however, there was often limited interaction with the people behind those businesses and little visibility of the impact our work was having.
In contrast, working with businesses across Norwich and the wider region is far more personal.
We build lasting relationships with our clients, gain a genuine understanding of their businesses, and can see first-hand the difference our advice and support makes to their success.”
In 2020, he joined Larking Gowen, one of the region’s leading independent accountancy and business advisory firms. Will, specialises in supporting growing businesses across East Anglia, helping them navigate growth, acquisitions, sales and strategic planning.

Explore careers in NorwichNorwich has a unique balance of typical national providers operating alongside some of the country’s largest independent business that are proudly owned and managed in the region. This is optimised by the finance and professional services sectors in the city with firms like Larking Gowen. Businesses with deep roots, long-standing client relationships and a long history in Norwich.
For Will, Norwich’s appeal extends beyond work.
Living in the outskirts of the city with his wife and young son, he enjoys the balance of being part of a thriving business community while remaining close to the Norfolk Broads, countryside and coast.
“Within the city, we have thriving hubs for business and financial services, from the courts, the Cathedral close and Prospect House within the city centre, to the business park at the city edge. However, when the opportunity arrives to clock off for the day we are privileged to be able to escape to some of the country’s most relaxing countryside and coast, all within a stone’s throw of the city.”
Importantly, he doesn’t see career progression and quality of life as a trade-off.
“I think there’s a slight misconception that you move to Norwich just because it’s a work-life balance. It is a clear benefit but that doesn’t mean that the work doesn’t give you the platform to go and have a fantastic career.“
