Norwich: Where Science, Innovation and Lifestyle Come Together
A World-Leading Science Ecosystem
Norwich is leading the way in research and scientific innovation. The city has earned a global reputation for combining world-class discovery with real-world impact, all while offering a quality of life that’s hard to match. Here, science is a thriving part of the local economy and community, shaping careers, industries and futures.
This is a city where ambitious ideas take root, collaboration comes naturally, and scientific excellence sits at the heart of regional pride.
At the centre of this is the Norwich Research Park, one of Europe’s largest single-site research communities. It brings together internationally recognised organisations including the University of East Anglia, Earlham Institute, Quadram Institute, John Innes Centre and the Sainsbury Laboratory and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Building Talent and Future Careers
The strength of Norwich’s science sector lies in its people. Supporting a workforce of around 15,000 across Greater Norwich, the life sciences cluster creates a powerful pipeline of opportunity for students, graduates and professionals at every stage of their careers.
The Park is also home to one of the world’s largest concentrations of microbiologists on a single site, creating an environment where knowledge is shared, partnerships form naturally and careers can accelerate close to home.
For Norwich-based creator Gab, this ecosystem is more than a professional opportunity; it is personal.

Growing up in the city, he went on to study Biomedicine at UEA, gaining hands-on research experience through volunteering with a scientific team and completing his final-year dissertation within the same innovation environment. His journey highlights how Norwich supports young scientists in building impactful careers without leaving the region.
Gab recently captured this experience in a short video, offering an authentic look at what it is like to pursue a science career in Norwich
“I love how Norwich was the home that allowed me to grow as a scientist and a researcher”
Science is woven into Norwich’s identity.
With world-leading institutions, thriving spin-outs and a culture that nurtures talent, Norwich’s health and life sciences sector is more than a cluster; it is a catalyst for growth and a source of regional pride.
Whether you are a researcher, investor, student or professional looking for your next opportunity, Norwich is a city where science shapes the future, and where you can help build it.
