Norwich has long been celebrated as a fantastic place to live and work, and has recently been voted Best Place to Live in the UK by the Sunday Times.

The city has a long and well‑established reputation as a centre of excellence for financial, professional and business services. From household names like Aviva to fast‑growing specialist firms, fintechs and professional practices, the sector plays a major role in the city’s economy and continues to grow in both scale and diversity.

That is why Work In Norwich is delighted to be working in collaboration with FIG | Financial Industry Group on a new initiative focused on attracting and retaining financial services talent in Norwich. This partnership brings together two organisations with the same purpose: promoting Norwich as a thriving place for careers, businesses and long term growth.

The collaboration has been set up to take a practical, evidence-led approach. While there is plenty of passion for Norwich, both organisations recognise the importance of understanding real experiences before deciding where to focus future activity.

Two short surveys have been launched to gather insight directly from the people who know the situation best.

  • One survey is aimed at business leaders and hiring decision-makers to better understand what it is like to recruit financial talent to Norwich right now.
  • The second focuses on employees who have relocated to Norwich for roles in financial services, helping to capture real stories about why people chose the city and what the relocation experience has been like.

These insights will help shape future campaigns, messaging and activity designed to attract new talent and support retention across the sector. They will also help build meaningful case studies that reflect the genuine experiences of people living and working in Norwich today.

If you are responsible for recruitment, have recently relocated to Norwich for a financial services role, or have ideas about how Norwich should be promoted, your input is incredibly valuable. Completing one of the surveys takes just a couple of minutes and contributes to a bigger picture that benefits the entire sector.

This collaboration is a really exciting step for Norwich’s financial services community. By teaming up, listening to real experiences and sharing authentic stories, Work In Norwich and FIG are helping show why the city is such a great place to build a financial career.
